Although the process to move from one system to another is relatively smooth and can be done anytime during the year, it may make more sense to use your current provider to the end of the year then start fresh in January. Consider the following reason:
- current provider will be able to run W2s, 1099s, & quarter-end and year-end payroll tax reports can be completed easily.
Your new system can then process payroll starting with the first one in January.

- Perform set up of new system prior to first payroll
